Jets (+5) at BILLS – Not a pick to win, but it will probably be closer, in the range of a field goal or something like that.
Jaguars (-7.5) at BENGALS – Cincy loses and doesn’t really cover all that much, except against the Giants, apparently.
Ravens (+1.5) over BROWNS – I don’t know what to think of Cleveland outside of horricially inconsistent. Against a good defense like Baltimore, Derek Anderson will probably return to looking bad.
Texans (+4.5) over VIKINGS – At least Houston looks like it has some upside. Minnesota can’t and won’t put it all together, which ensures the Brad Childress Death Watch will ramp up to a higher Threat Level.
BEARS (-12.5) over Lions – I don’t like picking teams that aren’t offensive juggernauts to cover like this, but I don’t think Detroit has covered a spread all season, and if Kyle Orton threw for 300+ yards and 2 TDs against them at Ford Field, what’s he gonna do at home?
CHIEFS (+9) over Bucs – Again, not to win, but after last week, I think Tyler Thigpen demonstrated some competency of basic quarterbacking. Of course, against Tampa, it could be a one week deal. This KC pick is mostly because they’re at home and Tampa hasn’t looked impressive scoring lately.
Cardinals (-3) over RAMS – Steven jackson being a game-time decision tells me bad things. He says he’s ready. It may not matter.
TITANS (-4) over Packers – Eventually the rushing attack will probably wear down the Packers’ line, which the D goes right after Aaron Rodgers.
Dolphins (+3.5) over BRONCOS – Problem: Accurate QB in Chad Pennington along with good running back who had a bad week last week in Ronnie Brown against a banged-up Denver defense that wasn’t very good to begin with.
GIANTS (-8.5) over Cowboys – Pure Brad Johnson spread, and I wouldn’t go against Vegas on this.
Eagles (-6) over SEAHAWKS – Last week’s win doesn’t mean Seattle still isn’t bad. Facing a competent QB in Donovan McNabb and an elite RB in Brian Westbrook will equal a loss.
Falcons (-2.5) over RAIDERS – Because everyone in the AFC West sucks right now, and with a spread this low, it’s a pick ’em.
Patriots (+8.5) over COLTS – Indy will probably win and they need it more, but let’s say there’s a good chance that Matt Cassel has become decent enough to squeak out a road win here. Not very likely, but depending on how the Colts’ offensive line performs, it may be more of a reality than we think.
REDSKINS (-2) over Steelers – Another week of getting hit way too many times for Ben Roethlisberger. Will he remember his own name after this week?
