Patriots 52, Redskins 7 – Tom Brady was his usual destructive, running for two touchdowns and throwing for three others before leaving the game in the 4th quarter. This did not stop the Pats, as Matt Cassell, the back up, rushed 15 yards for another score after that. Eventually, you’d have thought Gregg Williams would have instructed someone on his defense to take an open shot, just to show you mean business and won’t get pushed around without some repercussions. Let the knob-slobbering for Pats-Colts begin.
Saints 31, 49ers 10 – The Niners keep sliding into some awful morass of offensive incompetence and defensive underachieving. Drew Brees threw three touchdown passes to Marques Colston and one other to David Patten.
Bills 13, Jets 3 – The rest of the AFC East continues to be horrific, as the Jets give up a home loss to another division foe, as J.P. Losman hits Lee Evans for a touchdown pass after Trent Edwards suffered a wrist injury.
Chargers 35, Texans 10 – Guess playing back in San Diego only helped matters. Philip Rivers threw for three TDs and the other two came via CB Antonio Cromartie, who returned a fumble and an interception from Matt Schaub for scores.
Jaguars 24, Buccaneers 23 – The only competitive game of the whole damned day, surprisingly. Quinn Gray wasn’t asked ot a whole lot except hand the ball off to Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew, although he did throw a touchdown pass. Jeff Garcia got picked for six in the second quarter on an otherwise okay day in a close game.
