Red Sox 11, Indians 2 – The Indians are a young team that essentially fucked themselves over just as much as the Red Sox beat them. It doesn’t help when your explosive middle of your line-up forgets how to hit (although it’s safe to say that no one will hit Josh Beckett ever) in the last three games, and Game 7 is really not the fault of Jake Westbrook, who was able to make his way out of so many jams and keep them in the game, even when a 5-2 Boston lead existed. Cleveland was still in the game, even down by three. But allowing that kind of eighth inning made the inevitable only a matter of time with Jonathan Papelbon already on for a six-out save. Now, the Red Sox will play host to the torrid Colorado Rockies, with a long rest after sweeping both the Phillies and the Diamondbacks. Make no mistake, the Red Sox will not be swept by any team — but is the discrepancy between the AL and the NL irrelevant this year, given the run the Rockies are on?
We shall see come Wednesday night.
