Rockies 5, Diamondbacks 1 – So far the thought of mine that if Colorado could steal a win from Brandon Webb, they could take the series, is looking good right now, because that’s what the Rockies did — knock the Cy Young winner from last year around a bit with seven dink and dunk singles that resulted in a three-run fourth inning. Eventually all the cuts add up to serious bleeding. After Augie Ojeda bounced to Garrett Atkins at third in the seventh, the play above, with Justin Upton sliding into Kazuo Matsui and taking him out, was called interference (although I’ve seen worse examples by more tenured players not get called, ever.) Some D-back fans tossed bottles on to the field, and post-delay, Francis got into some trouble — however, the bullpen bailed him out and that was that, as Fuentes in the 8th and Corpas in the ninth has become lockdown. Arizona needs to grab a split or this series is done — you can’t lose two straight to a team running on an 18-out-of-19 streak; but how do you beat them? Doug Davis will have to be better than his record suggests against rookie Ubaldo Jimenez.
