Stealing Signals: God Bless The Philly Bullpen.

Braves 9, Phillies 8 – They always, ALWAYS find a way to lose when it matters, and there’s nothing better for a Met fan. The Phillies went into the eighth with an 8-2 lead, and then Tom Gordon and Brett Myers combined to give up seven runs over two innings, capped by a bases-clearing double by Matt Diaz.

Reds 7, Mets 0 –  Philly’s failure is especially good when the Mets decide not to show up and get shut out by rookie Tom Shearn and the crappy Cincy bullpen.

Indians 6, Twins 2 – Cleveland keeps cementing its claim to the AL Central by sweeping the Twins for the second time in the last two weeks. Fausto Carmona gets win number 15.

Yankees 10, Mariners 2 – A-Rod pleads to play, DHs, and hits two massive bombs for home runs number 47 and 48 on the season.

Brewers 14, Astros 2 – Pity the poor Astro pitching, getting shellacked with five home runs off Brewer bats.

Cubs 8, Dodgers 2 – Ted Lilly gets his first win since August 9th by throwing 6.2 of solid ball as the Cubs run up the score late.

Athletics 6, Angels 2 – Mark Ellis jacks a three-run homer off Joe Saunders and Donnie Murphy adds a career high three-hits and two RBIs.

Tigers 2, White Sox 1 – Detroit shouldn’t be pulling out wins this closely, but here they are, as Timo Perez drives in the game winning run in extra innings.

  1. I actually had to peel myself off the couch, go into my bedroom and lie down in absolute silence for a half hour after that Phillies game. I just…I just don’t know why I care anymore.
