Phillies 5, Braves 3 – Ryan Howard jacks a three run shot in the fifth to support Old Man Jamie Moyer, who gave up three in 6.1 innings. Buddy Carlyle coughed up a 2-0 lead before Howard knocked him out.
Tigers 11, A’s 6 – Magglio Ordonez goes deep twice in the second inning, joining Al Kaline as the only Tigers hitters to do it.
Yankees 5, Indians 3 – Andy Pettitte’s more than seven innings of shutout work against the Tribe helped seal a sweep, and the Indians are now a half game down to the Tigers in the AL Central.
Mets 10, Marlins 4 – Aaron Heilman, Jorge Sosa, and the rest of the Mets pen were actually able to hold the lead for once, and the rest of the team opened it up in the eighth inning.
Angels 6, Twins 2 – Spicoli The Younger caps off a weekend of great starts from Angel pitching by going into the eighth inning in order to sweep the Twins. Orlando Cabrera goes 3-for-5 with an RBI double.
Mariners 6, White Sox 0 – Spicoli the Elder is recovering from his poor start with yet another shutout, this time with eight strikeouts. Adrian Beltre hit a two-run homer. The only upside for the White Sox,
Cardinals 12, Dodgers 2 – Mark Hendrickson is the left-handed version of Brett Tomko, getting shelled early and making Anthony Reyes look very, very good. The two Ryans did most of it — Ryan Ludwick had a three-run homer and Brendan Ryan hit a two-run homer.
Nationals 7, Diamondbacks 6 -The Nats nail a tying homer and a sacrifice fly in the 9th against closer Jose Valverde, blowing a chance for Micah Owings’ first win since June 20th.
