Given that I had noted the original arrest of Eric Scott on burglary charges a few weeks back, it behooves me to mention that the L.A. County District Attorney will not be charging him in relation to the Norwalk home invasion, but a pending review is still being undertaken by the Bruin athletic department on the wide receivers’ coach. The DA is holding off due to lack of evidence, so we can lay off on the “University of Coaches Lifting Appliances” and such, although that was a particularly inspired take, found on an EDSBS post about Scott’s arrest.
The question is whether or not he will be allowed to return to coaching after the review. Head coach Karl Dorrell claims he knew about some of the blemishes on Scott’s past record, but the three misdemeanors may give them some pause. I doubt it’s actually enough to have him dismissed, and I’d guess he’ll be on the sidelines rather soon.
