Rockies 9, Braves 2 – Jeff Francis throws smoke for six innings while the Rox lineup gets to John Smoltz early. Garrett Atkins hits the three-run homer to blow the game open. Amazingly, the NL West race is one of the closest in MLB right now, with the fourth-place Rockies being only 3.5 games back now.
Mariners 7, Red Sox 4 – You can’t go home again, Jon Lester. The WA state native was leading 4-3 before giving up a three-run homer to Yuniesky Betancourt, who had four RBIs total.
Diamondbacks 1, Dodgers 0 – Doug Davis outduels Chad Billingsley, as the only run given up is a home run by catcher Chris Snyder.
Yankees 7, Royals 1 – At least A-Rod got a hit last night. Melky Cabrera nailed an odd two-run double off the pitcher’s foot that went into the stands, Robinson Cano homered, and Chien-Ming Wang dominated on the mound.
Padres 4, Giants 3 – Barry Bonds is still on 754 while Soctt Hairston homers twice for the Padres, including the game-winning shot in the 10th inning.
Indians 5, Twins 2 – C.C. Sabathia wins this match-up against Johan Santana, with the assistance of four Grady Sizemore RBIs.
Mets 6, Cubs 2 – Carlos Zambrano gone wild. The Cubs ace issued seven walks, but it was the ones late in the game against Ryan Dempster that the Mets took advantage of for a four-run rally in the ninth.
A’s 8, Angels 4 – A throwing error by Vlad the Impaler leads to a big eighth inning for the A’s, and overshadows his second consecutive 2-homer game.
