Cubs 3, Giants 2 – That’s what a bad bullpen will do: give up two-run doubles to Aramis Ramirez when the game should be yours, and that’s when you know you’re in a serious bad patch, or hell, a bad year. The Cubs continue to roll and the Giants continue to blow.
Padres 5, Mets 1 – David Wells keeps a lid on the Mets offense with six innings of good work and Michael Barrett has his best offensive game as a Father yet.
BoSox 4, Royals 0 – Kason Gabbard gets the first complete game shutout of his career against KC while Manram and Big Papi both go deep.
Yankees 6, Jays 4 – Josh Towers gives up homers to A-Rod, Matsui, and Cano. Kei Igawa makes it a struggle, and gives up two homers to Troy Glaus.
Reds 10, Braves 3 – At this rate, Ken Griffey Jr. will get to 600 career home runs before Bonds breaks Aaron’s record. 587 came off an Atlanta reliever in the second, as Kyle Davies failed to even get a man out at all. Reds pitcher Bobby Livingston helped himself out by going 4-for-4 with an RBI.
Dodgers 10, Phillies 3 – Sometimes you wonder if the Dodgers’ offense is as anemic as it looks on paper, because both Jeff Kent and Matt Kemp hit three-run jacks. Then, you realize they hit them off the Phillies, who really can’t pitch for shit unless it’s Cole Hamels on the mound.
White Sox 11, Indians 10 – Lordy. A nine-run sixth inning on the part of the White Sox is nothing to sneeze at, folks, and the fact that the Chicago bullpen was about ready to cough up another big lead yet again is not exactly sitting well with Ozzie Guillen and his team.
