Three Different Sports, Three Big Trade Rumors.

OK, let’s start with the man who should have been demand a trade years ago due to Kevin McHale’s mismanagement. Trade rumors surrounding Kevin Garnett have been all over the place since last season (Lakers, Bulls, Celtics, Suns, etc.), and a report now has him speaking out on his preference to head to Phoenix — flatly refusing to go anywhere near a trade to Boston, which is probably driving Bill Simmons to drink early already. The trade was already agreed to by McHale and Boston GM Danny Ainge until KG said no. Now, the Wolves would want Amare Stoudemire in any trade for KG (Shawn Marion, with a year left on the contract, doesn’t want to go to Boston or Minnesota) — and I can’t stress how that trade-off would not work. The trade only works to make the Suns more of a contender by adding KG to Amare. Either the Suns will have to find a way to keep Amare out of a trade, or I suspect KG will be looking at (gasp) L.A.?

Next, we go to the NFL, where some are advocating the Chiefs deal RB Larry Johnson despite the fact that he is their offense, at this point and time, due to his demand for a contract extension and the possibility he will hold out. Interesting options presented: NY Giants, New Orleans, Philly, Green Bay. Carolina ought to look about getting in on that, if possible. Problem is, LJ isn’t Fantasy Jesus (LDT), and the trends of backs who carry 400 times in a season aren’t good. Better make it for a 3-year contract for big money, if possible.

Finally, I just heard on ESPNNews that Ken Griffey’s interested in possibly being dealt to the Cubs. Why, I would like to know — I’m utterly confused as to why he’d like to go to the madhouse that Lou Piniella presides over these days, but despite falling apart, the Cubs are still in 2nd in the NL Central. However, it isn’t happening — the Cubs have already spent millions, and Tribune has put the kibosh on new salary until it sells the team.

  1. “…or I suspect KG will be looking at (gasp) L.A.?”
I think I could happily explode if that were to happen.

  2. I don’t think Kupchak has the minerals to give up Bynum, Lamar, and Kwame. I suspect that the Lakers will make small tweaks, like Cook for Head, instead of a big splash. Umm, Cook for Head? That was unintentional. I swear.

  3. The Chiefs are going to stink this year anyway, and they’re not thrilled with LJ’s act.

I don’t see any legitimate scenario where he ends up in Philly.

  4. Man, LJ isn’t stupid… he can see that he’s the best player on the team, and that he’s going to be asked to bang repeatedly into defenses stacked up to stop him. He’d have to be a numbskull to happily do that for what they’re paying him. Athletes in most other sports don’t have my sympathy when they ask for more money, but football players have a long life of pain ahead of them, and their union sucks, so I say pay da man.

  5. Ok i posted this comment cause i really need a sport..I’m looking for anything just anything! But i want to enjoy the sport so i know this is off the subject but can someone please tell me!!!
